Crawlspace FAQ
1.Moisture on walls and dirt floor or plastic barrier appears from excess humidity or condensation.
Solution: Vapor Bright® moisture/odor barrier solution.
2.Water enters through the ground and comes from hydrostatic pressure (water from below grade rises up from below and is forced up into the crawlspace).
Solution: crawlspace drainage and sump pump solution (Pressure Relief System).
3.Water enters through the cracks, seams, or other penetrations in the walls. This is due to water draining or being forced through the walls.
Solution: Exterior drainage/interior perimeter drains system, or Crack Injection Solution.
4.Water flows over the top of the walls because of improper grading. This could also be caused by improperly sealed porches or additions.
Basement FAQ

Solution: Interior drainage solution and possible sump pump - Pressure Relief System.
3.Water enters through cracks, seams, or other penetrations in the walls. This is due to water draining or being forced through the walls.

What Are Sump Pumps?
A sump pump is a submersible pump used to remove water that has accumulated in a sump basin.
A sump basin, commonly found in the home basement, is usually a mold resistant non-corrosive container
that is in a hole to collect water. The water may be collected by a basement waterproofing system, where
it's funneled into the pit, or may collect because of rain or natural ground water, especially if the basement
is below the water table level.
More & more houses along the Wasatch front need a sump pump system. Generally homes that are only
in a high water table zone have a storm water pump engineered to remove the groundwater that accumulates
around the foundation. However the majority of homes do not have the proper sump protection against a
flooding basement or crawlspace. The majority of these homes through out Utah do not even have a proper
sump basin installed for the sump pump being used.
Your Storm Water Pump
The storm water pump is the “core” of your basement’s waterproofing organization if it fails, you may take in water, often lots of water.
We strongly advocate that you purchase just the best pumps; a cheap price does not appear like a good deal of a bargain when inches of water are ruining your basement furniture, walls, and flooring. From our own intensive research, as well as our own long record of successfully solving wet basement problems, we have found the Zoller Pumps to be the most dependable and best value.
These pumps are made from all metal components of stainless steel running in a protected oil chamber and have heavy duty ball bearing construction. Designed for basement waterproofing, these pumps can pump up to 110 Gallon Per Minute and up to 66 ft up (head) depending on the models.
The Need for a Battery Back Up Pump
even the most dependable of pumps need electricity to operate. If you have a power failure ALL electrical pumps are inoperative. Just for this reason, we always recommend a Battery Operated Sump System to anybody who has a storm water pump. Again, that rule of thumb applies: cheaper is not better. You need to be certain that your backup system is enough for your requirements and that the battery and battery charger are well-matched and also reliable.
